What AEO is
Answer engine optimisation: being the business an AI assistant names when someone asks it who to buy from.

What to do
Keep doing your SEO alongside it, since the same pages usually serve both and most of them need restructuring more than new words.
How it works
- Assistants answer from two places. One is their training data, which is months stale and out of your hands. The other is what they retrieve live when the question is asked.
- You can work on the live half. Your site has to be crawlable, and it has to answer cleanly enough to be quoted.
- Other sites count too. Reviews and directory listings often weigh as much as your own pages, which is why some of our advice is to get listed.
